The story behind #13

#13 (Buxton Opera House) my first painting in 13 years

#13 (Buxton Opera House) my first painting in 13 years

A strange name to call a painting right? Well #13 seemed appropriate. The main reasons for the choice of name are as follows:

1. 13 years since I last painted.

2. I live at house 13 and the painting was created there.

3. It was painted in the year 2013.

4. Hashtag (#) represents the age in which we now live and which we are all connected by social media. Funnily I have never had nor ever plan on having a twitter account!

The painting was created in oil and applied onto an A3 canvas. Painting commenced on the 27th October 2013 and finished on the 1st December 2013. The painting was roughly completed in around 30 hours inbetween work and at weekends.

The pictures below show some of the main stages that the painting merged through during its completion.
