The Lancashire Fusilier

After 14 months of work (at weekends and after work on Wednesday evenings) I can now finally show you the final painting of the “Lancashire Fusilier” on the Buxton Spa Express. It has been painted on a A3 canvas with oil paints and mostly using a 0004 brush! My favourite parts are the details around the tender and main driving pistons which unsurprisingly took the longest part to paint. The painting will also be entered into the Derbyshire Open Art Competition at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, I would love for the painting to go on display but obviously that is up for the judges to decide. The first image below is the original “untouched” picture followed by a few others using various filters. Over the next few months I am aiming to finish my painting of Lewis Hamilton before moving onto my summer holiday project of Concorde.

Hope you like the finished result.

Lewis Hamilton

How exciting, my first post since June 2015! Wondering where i have been hiding all this time, well i have been kept very busy with my new job and a few other bits and bobs. Either way I’m back! Anyway I was able to blow the dust of my painting of Lewis Hamilton and make some much needed progress. I was able to add the rear wing and the body work around the Vodafone logo. Honestly I was nervous about ruining the painting, especially after not touching it for such a long period. I am quite happy though with how the painting went today, with a little more time I reckon I can have this finished by Easter?
