The Lanarkshire

The finished painting

The finished painting

Introducing the Lanarkshire. After a marathon painting session last weekend on the remaining masts and the sea I was able to complete this very detailed and complex painting. I am very happy with the painting and my client is “over the moon” with the end result. The painting is now in the process of fully drying (which could take another few weeks) before been varnished. In the meantime work continues on P.S. you legend and another piece for the Derbyshire Open Art Competition.

The Lanarkshire

With the adding of all the masts and rigging the painting of the Lanarkshire is now nearing completion. A few minor details remain to be added onto the ship along with the sea and land in the background and foreground. All being well the painting should by completed over the weekend and so this will be my penultimate post, Launch date for the final image of the finished painting will be. Staaurday 18th April.

The Lanarkshire

The painting of the Lanarkshire is close to being completed now that the front masts and gantry have been added. The name of the ship has also been added too along with further people and port holes. Over the next few weeks I will add the remaining cables, port holes, sea and land. All being well the painting should be completed by the end of April.

Again I spent some time on Saturday finishing off the masts and adding other precise details around the rear of the painting. I am now aiming to add the main mast and other details around the front over the next week.

The Lanarkshire

Just a quick update, just some more details added over the weekend especially around the rear of the boat with extra masts and cables. I have also started painting the main large mast at the front along with people……..see if you can find them, they are rather small! All being well I am estimating the painting to be completed towards the end of April.

Work continues on the painting of the Lanarkshire, I have no started to insert masts and cables to the rear of the painting along with more finer details. Again this is taking quite a bit of time and progress is a little slow but the end results are well worth the time and effort. Over the weekend I am planning on inserting the main front mast onto the painting.

Progress on the painting has continued at a very good pace, the front cab has now been added along with with other minor details around this area. Once dry I am aiming to move onto the front of the ship and to add more masts at the back. The painting is well on course to be completed by the beginning of June and so while this and the painting of Mika Hakkinen are drying I will spend part of Friday continuing with my own personal painting of Lewis Hamilton.

The Lanarkshire

I spent the morning starting to add the front cab of the ship to the painting. Progress has been a little slow due to the details but certainly worth the time and effort. More progress on the painting will be made over the next few days.

I managed to maximise the amount of daylight hours available to me on Saturday to make some good progress with this painting. I have now added the rear cabins along with the life boats that sit on top. I also had the opportunity to start adding some of the masts (although there are plenty more) During the course of the week I am aiming to start working on the main cabins at the front of the ship.

Work continues on the Lanarksire and have spent a few more hours adding some more body details towards the back of the boat.  Over the weekend I plan to complete the section under the chimney along with adding some funnels and pipes around this.

The Lanarkshire

Introducing “The Lanarkshire” a once grand vessel home to many servicemen and women, stationed in the Firth with the task of protecting Britain and its interests. The painting has been commissioned by my client as a birthday present for his fathers 80th birthday whom was once stationed on this fine vessel.

The painting is been created on an A2 Canvas and is again been painted with Oil Paint. The deadline for the project is the end of June and due to its size, details and complexity (especially on the upper deck) I thought it would be important to start it early.

To date I have completed the sky and started to paint the front bodywork of the ship. Over the next week I am aiming to complete the “red and black” zones of the bodywork before moving onto the “white” zone.
