Over the past few weeks I have been working on a project for the Derbyshire Open Art competition based on Solomon’s Temple and called Lonely Man. The shots below show how the image has progressed over the past few weeks:

The Lanarkshire
Introducing the Lanarkshire. After a marathon painting session last weekend on the remaining masts and the sea I was able to complete this very detailed and complex painting. I am very happy with the painting and my client is “over the moon” with the end result. The painting is now in the process of fully drying (which could take another few weeks) before been varnished. In the meantime work continues on P.S. you legend and another piece for the Derbyshire Open Art Competition.
The Lanarkshire
With the adding of all the masts and rigging the painting of the Lanarkshire is now nearing completion. A few minor details remain to be added onto the ship along with the sea and land in the background and foreground. All being well the painting should by completed over the weekend and so this will be my penultimate post, Launch date for the final image of the finished painting will be. Staaurday 18th April.
The Lanarkshire
The painting of the Lanarkshire is close to being completed now that the front masts and gantry have been added. The name of the ship has also been added too along with further people and port holes. Over the next few weeks I will add the remaining cables, port holes, sea and land. All being well the painting should be completed by the end of April.

P.S. you legend.
The Lanarkshire
Just a quick update, just some more details added over the weekend especially around the rear of the boat with extra masts and cables. I have also started painting the main large mast at the front along with people……..see if you can find them, they are rather small! All being well I am estimating the painting to be completed towards the end of April.
Mika Hakkinen
So here it is, the finished painting of Mika Hakkinen, F1 Champion 1998 & 1999. This will soon be leaving the UK bound for Germany to be with its new owner.
The picture below shows the finished image next to the other paintings of the F1 Champions of the Noughties. Michael Schumacher (F1 Champion 2000-2004), Fernando Alonso (F1 Champion 2005 & 2006) and the unfinished painting of Lewis Hamilton (F1 Champion 2007) To complete this range I will in due course complete a painting of Jenson Button in his Brawn from the Monaco GP (2009) and Kimi Rakkonen in his Ferrari from 2007.
The Lanarkshire
Work continues on the painting of the Lanarkshire, I have no started to insert masts and cables to the rear of the painting along with more finer details. Again this is taking quite a bit of time and progress is a little slow but the end results are well worth the time and effort. Over the weekend I am planning on inserting the main front mast onto the painting.
Lewis Hamilton
With the start of the new F1 season it only seemed appropriate to carry on with the painting of Lewis Hamilton over the weekend. I have now finished most of the engine cover along with Lewis’ helmet and bodywork around the cockpit. I aim to start the work around the Vodafone logo over the weekend.
The painting of Mika Hakkinen is now complete too, a full image of this will be made available on Saturday for all too see.
Mika Hakkinen
After adding more bodywork details and logos over the weekend the painting is near completion. I have now started to add the track to the painting and I am aiming to finish this over the coming week. This is my penultimate post on this painting…….. all being well the next will be the final image.
The Lanarkshire
Progress on the painting has continued at a very good pace, the front cab has now been added along with with other minor details around this area. Once dry I am aiming to move onto the front of the ship and to add more masts at the back. The painting is well on course to be completed by the beginning of June and so while this and the painting of Mika Hakkinen are drying I will spend part of Friday continuing with my own personal painting of Lewis Hamilton.
Mika Hakkinen
Work has continued on the painting of Mika Hakkinen over the past few days. Most body work logos and graphics have now been added along with helmet and glove details. More work is needed on the helmet and front nose cone before the background can be added, at present I am still on track to have the painting finished by the start of April.

Lewis Hamilton
After spending a majority of Sunday afternoon and evening it was pleasing to see some really progress been made with the painting of Lewis Hamilton. I have now completed the engine cover and finished the cameras. I now plan to track back to Lewis’s Helmet and body work around this area before moving onto the tricky rear section of the car.
The Lanarkshire
I managed to maximise the amount of daylight hours available to me on Saturday to make some good progress with this painting. I have now added the rear cabins along with the life boats that sit on top. I also had the opportunity to start adding some of the masts (although there are plenty more) During the course of the week I am aiming to start working on the main cabins at the front of the ship.
Mika Hakkinen
I have completed more work on the painting of Mika Hakkinen over the weekend. I have added the front wing end plates, tidyed up the front wing, added the wing attachments, added the front left wheel rim and added the back wheel. Once dry I will then have the opportunity to start adding graphics and other details. I am aiming to have the painting finished by the middle of April.
Lewis Hamilton
Work continues on the painting of Lewis Hamilton, over the past few days I have had chance to add the front air duct along with the camera mounted above this, I now plan to move onto the engine cover before tracking back towards the helmet and bodywork below the cockpit.
